Bass Fishing Big in the Sound This Year

Mild winter brings early fishing season to local waters.

The stripers are out there and ready to be caught, coming into Patch. Over at Time Beacon Record, Angelo Peluso reported on the early start that anglers are getting on the big striped bass catches.

"With the unseasonably mild winter that we experienced, spring 2012 fishing in the Long Island Sound has brought with it some early season pleasantries and surprises," Peluso wrote in his story.

He said that one of first game fish to come back are striped bass who come to the shallows to feed.

"While some of this revival began in mid-to-late April, the 'turn-on' gathered momentum in late May and will continue into June," he wrote.

Sounds like there will be good bass fishing for some time to come in the area.
