Estuary Day 2012 – A Family friendly FREE event!


Estuary Day is a national celebration of the vibrant and essential coastal areas where fresh and salt water meet.


We're celebrating our estuary here on the shores of Port Jefferson Harbor! You will find fun for the whole family at Estuary Day 2012!

Enjoy fish printing with Eileen Gerle from the Town of Brookhaven, explore a touch tank hosted by the Stony Brook Yacht Club, enjoy poetry readings with the Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council, experience hands on activities at the Maritime Explorium including building a biome and engineering a water filtration system and baby horsecrab releases. Visit the LISEC Bayles boat shed to see historic boat restorations in progress and join in on guided shore and rock walks at 1 and 2PM. Learn about shellfish restoration efforts with the Coastal Steward, gardening with native plants with a Master Gardener, learn about research resources from the Port Jefferson Free library and visit displays from Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Lab!


Free and open to the public from Noon until 5 p.m.
