Track Work Reduces Weekend Train Schedule

Switch replacement project causes reduced LIRR schedule between Huntington and Port Jefferson branch.

Service on the Huntington - Port Jefferson Branch will be significantly reduced this weekend between 12:53 a.m. on Sat. and 2:52 a.m. on Mon. due to a major switch replacement project by the Long Island Rail Road.

Train service between Port Jefferson and Huntington will run once every two hours instead the regular weekend interval of once every 90 minutes. Trains between Huntington and Hicksville will run once an hour rather than the regular 30 minutes.

According to the LIRR, some weekend trains will be canceled and buses will replace some trains between Huntington and Hicksville. Customers should expect up to 30 minutes of additional travel time.
