Port Jefferson Station Man Defends Pizza Eating Contest Title For Charity

The winners of a pizza eating contest held every year in Northport will be back again on Sunday to defend their title in an effort to help raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, .

James Finnegan of Port Jefferson Station, and Phillip Kraese of South Huntington, dubbed themselves "Team Hoover" and sucked up a 30-inch cheese pie in what is said to be a record time of 16 minutes.

The pies were supplied by Huntington pizzaria, for the charity event.

St. Baldrick's Foundation benefits are often much different than the traditional fundraiser, testing the limits of what people will do for a good cause and for the entertainment of the crowd. This year, restraurant in Port Jefferson hosted to raise money for the charity.

Nina's Pizza Eating Contest and Block Party to benefit St. Baldrick's Foundation contest will take place in Northport on Sunday at 2 p.m. Teams of two will collect donations and compete to finish a 30-inch cheese pizza with the fastest time.

"(Team Hoover) were neck in neck with one other team at the sixteenth minute when Finnegan closed his mouth on the sole remaining crust, breaking 2010's record of 17 minutes and winning them a place in Nina's hall of fame," reported Northport Patch.
