The (Almost) Christening of the Coastal Steward
It took a few tries, but The Coastal Steward's new boat did get the blessing of Tim Bishop, Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld and volunteer Kathy O'Sullivan with the ceremonial breaking of the champagne bottle.
On April 16, Dave Johnson had help from Rep. Tim Bishop, D-Southampton, Brookhaven Town Councilman Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld and others. It took a few tries but they finally got the champagne bottle to break on the hull.
The nonprofit will use the boat to further its mission to clean trash off of area beaches and to restock the Long Island Sound with water filtering oysters.
