Port Jefferson Station Man Found Dead in N.J.

A man whose last known address was in Port Jefferson Station was found dead on a front porch in Bridgeton, N.J., though police are still searching for answers. According to Bridgeton Capt. Michael Gaimari, 25-year-old Thomas Klein was found unresponsive the morning of July 11 after nearby residents awoke to gun shots. Police arrived shortly after 7:30 to find him on the front porch of a home in the 100 block of S. Pine Street, the victim of a shooting.

Fire Breaks Out a Second Time at Mt. Sinai House Struck by Lightning


A fire on Friday in a Mt. Sinai home on Crabapple Court, which was caused by a lightning strike, brought firefighters back to the scene when it reignited on Saturday morning, according to a report published Saturday in Newsday.

Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Comes to Port Jefferson

It's the fastest-growing sport, Arnold Pollack says, and it has arrived at Port Jefferson Harbor. Stand-up paddle boarding is now available at Danford's Marina. Pollack, owner of Snow Shed in Port Jefferson Station, has opened up a kiosk renting out paddle boards and kayaks and teaching lessons too.

Bail Raised on Woman Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Bail was raised on a Centereach woman reportedly responsible for afatal hit-and-run on Route 112 in Terryville just over two weeks ago that left a local man dead. According to Newsday, at court on Thursday, county prosecutors unveiled the fact that Montalvo had her license suspended 10 times previously on nine different occasions. Suffolk County Judge Fernando Camacho raised bail from $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond to $150,000 cash bail or $300,000 bond.
